I wrote “Skyline” when I was 16. I wanted to describe the feeling I had for a boy I knew I could never keep. I longed to capture the beauty of what we had. I was always fascinated with picture perfect skylines. All so breathtaking and beautiful in their own unique ways. Powerful and tall in the daylight. Bright and mystical in the dark. Both make me soar to new heights. Love kind of makes you feel high above it all — just like a skyline.
When I was in high school I burned CDs of my original songs and passed them out on the last day before graduation. A handful of friends have the original version of “Skyline”. It’s stuck with me all these years.
“I was only fifteen, looking into your eyes, livin’ on the skyline. You were my protection, my first love obsession and I was livin” on the skyline” (original version - “Skyline”)
When I say these songs are my diary, I’m not lying. I have 10 years worth of songs coming to you slowly but surely as I record independently from my living-room. I am not a professional by any means, but I’m learning production everyday.
I’m here to tell you that you can accomplish difficult things. You can chase any dream you’ve ever desired. My kindergarten yearbook said when I grew up I wanted to be a “rockstar”. I have never given up on that 5 year old girl. She’s still with me. Thank you for believing in her too. 💕
